Following the launch of the 10 Year Plan for the NHS and changes to NHS England (NHSE) and Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), NHS England is producing an update to the 2022 Statutory Guidance that sets out how Integrated Care Boards, Foundation Trusts and NHS Trusts should meet their legal duties according to the 2022 Health and Care Act.
This update will accompany, but not replace, the 2022 guidance, demonstrating how it can be applied in the changed system. It’s aimed at 3 main audiences – to explain their responsibilities on working with people and communities: Commissioners, Providers and Neighbourhood health organisations. It’ll also be of interest to the public for the expectations on how the NHS should work with them.
NHSE is looking for up-to-date case studies that reflect the new landscape. Possible examples include:
- Examples of partners working with communities to deliver care locally and reduce reliance on hospital services
- Case studies showing how listening to people has shaped early intervention, prevention, or community-led support to stop problems escalating
- Examples where digital tools have improved access, involvement, or communication with people and communities alongside face-to-face engagement.
If you have a case study, you can submit it here: Guidelines on working with people and communities to deliver the 10 Year Health Plan
Deadline for submission: 20 February 2026
