Creative health and equity
CHWA is working in partnership with Suffolk Artlink to support our new Creative Health & Equity Lead in Suffolk & Norfolk: Claire Atherton. Claire works with the Norfolk & Suffolk Culture Board Creative Health Working Party, with representatives from health, social care and the community sector across Suffolk and Norfolk. Claire’s post is funded by Arts Council England and Suffolk County Council Public Health.
The postholder is part of a community of practice with three other existing posts with similar aims in South Yorkshire, Barnsley and Derbyshire.
We’ve created this role to catalyse and support creative health work across Norfolk and Suffolk and ensure that the role of Creative health in addressing health inequalities is understood, valued and developed. It’s rooted in the principles outlined in the Creative Health Quality Framework and we know that any positive change we make will be down to trust and solidarity across a wide range of stakeholders.
The role also builds on the work done by Creative Lives across Norfolk and Suffolk in 2023/4, resulting in Mapping Creative Health in Norfolk & Suffolk: A Research Report Prepared for the Norfolk & Suffolk Culture Board (March 2024).
