Cheryl is the Director at Helix Arts, having started in 2015, she has developed the organisation, with flagship programmes such as Make it Happen - real-world training for community volunteers to develop skills and steer their own projects. Falling on your Feet - a 10 year long dance and fall initiative. Better Connect - a core creative health programme. #Never youth justice and health project exploring drugs and alcohol use and Artists' Agency which provides development, networking, and mentoring for Artists and creative businesses.
Helix Arts is a NE based arts charity and an ACE National portfolio organisation with 50% of its resources committed to Creative Health in North Tyneside. The organisation is a founding member and driving force for a long-standing culture, health and wellbeing network, with cross-cutting sectors representatives joining up to ensure a strong creative health offer in North Tyneside.
She is also a community leader; Chair for the North Tyneside Cultural Education partnership, Vice-Chair for the North Tyneside Cultural partnership and VCSE representative for the local authorities Health and Wellbeing Board. She enjoys volunteering as a trustee for VONNE and supporting their wider VCSE membership.
Previously Cheryl has worked as a Development officer at Arts Council England , a Programme Director at an Arts Education Charity and as a manager for an rural arts on prescription service.
Her interests are well-being in all forms, and she really encourages this at Helix Arts. She is an avid runner and loves a race goal.
